Church membership is about visibly embracing your role as part of Christ’s body. It’s an informed commitment to the vision and mission of City Life Church, a willing submission to leadership, and an intentional embrace of your role in the body of Christ.

Membership isn’t like joining a gym or subscribing to Netflix. It’s not about perks—it’s about belonging. Jesus invites us into “the household of God” (Ephesians 2:19). Families aren’t based on performance or fees—they’re based on relationship.

The Bible describes the church as a body (1 Corinthians 12; Romans 12). Each member has unique gifts to bring to the table, with Jesus at the center. We rejoice and suffer together, living interdependently as a church family. Membership means being a contributor, not a consumer—on mission together to advance God’s kingdom.

Commitment helps us grow as disciples. Without it, we risk leaving when things get hard. Growth happens when we stay, work through challenges, and allow God to shape us. That’s where real transformation and joy are found.

The church exists to Worship God, Equip the Church, and Reach the World. This mission isn’t just for pastors—it’s for every believer. Membership helps us know who is committed so we can function as one body, united under Christ, working together for maturity and mission.

While the Bible doesn’t command formal membership, it clearly shows believers as part of a defined local body (1 Corinthians 12; Ephesians 4). Membership reflects this principle—helping us live out the “one another” commands and commit to a shared mission.
